5 Questions and Answers about our Publicity Services

1. What can publicity do for me, my company and my product? Unlike the other components of your marketing plan which probably include advertising and promotion (brochures, flyers, etc.), you cannot buy publicity. The goal of public relations/publicity is third party endorsement—the best kind of recommendation you can get, because it can’t be bought.
2. How do you get good publicity for my company? First, we ask a lot of questions. Have you been featured in the media before? What do you expect publicity to accomplish for you and your company or product? What is newsworthy about you, your company, and your product? What’s the best kind of publicity you can envision? This interview is a very important step because you are the only one who knows what you need from your publicity campaign. After these questions are answered, we develop a “pitch” about you which we can take to the media—producers of television and radio shows, journalists and editors of newspapers and magazines, and appropriate websites, if applicable. Our job is to uncover news about you, your company and product, and to convince harried journalists and producers that your story is worthy of their interest. Our mission is to present you, your company and product as valuable resources for the media.
3. What can I expect from your publicity campaign? Here is what we can guarantee: We will craft a unique and media-worthy pitch that tells your story in an interesting and news-oriented fashion. We will present your story to every outlet (producer, journalist, editor) that is appropriate. We will follow up with everyone who has been contacted initially and try to persuade them to cover your story. Our goal is to get coverage for you but we cannot guarantee that this will happen. The stories we do secure will be the best endorsement you can get and will support and increase the value of your other marketing initiatives such as advertising and promotion. A quote from your local paper inserted in your company’s brochures is much more valuable than anything you or your copywriters can write about your company because of the inherent honesty of such a quote.
4. How long will the publicity campaign last? We normally work on an initial 3-6 month contract. Even better is a year-long campaign to be renegotiated at the end of the year. This allows us to continually update and augment your story and to present is to a variety of media in a variety of ways, building your status as a trusted media resource. Publicity does not usually happen quickly. It takes time, patience, and consistency. It must be won over the long haul, a step at a time.
5. How much will this cost? We pride ourselves on working within your budget. We will discuss our fees and how we can work together during our first interview. Depending on your needs and budget we can work on an hourly or project fee. | |
